STREET STYLED NO. 3:: Leopard Sandals + Pencil Skirt

1. SHIRT ASOS | 2. BAG ZARA | 3. SKIRT THE ROW (similar one here) 4. SUNGLASSES F21 | 5. BRACELET ASOS | 6. SANDALS TOPSHOP
I don't know about you but I pinned, tumbled, tweeted, and studied this particular photo to death since the moment it was published (Oct. 2011, in case you're wondering). I believe I let out an audible gasp when I first saw it - though that's not saying much, I do that all the time. It's quite likely up there in my top 10 street style shots of all time. WHOA. Huge call. I know. But seriously, I adore this look and everything it stands for. Love her androgynous attitude, the black+white+leopard combo, and her strappy sandals that buckle all the way up her ankle  (why do I always love sandals that are so hard to put on?).

PICNIC WEEK on CamilleStyles

Hey dear reader, what do you have planned for this weekend? It was picnic week all week long on CamilleStyles so you better believe I'm inspired to pack up a pretty little basket and head to Zilker Park for a day date - I'm thinking wine, cheese, cold fruits, a sun hat... These images are from my own picnic-inspired post for CamilleStyles, hop over if you'd like the details and sources!

I'm going on my family vacation starting next Monday so I've written a to do list of what I need to get done before I leave, and that list includes writing 26 blog posts (with my blog, the 3 blogs I contribute to, plus my work blog) so... I highly doubt a picnic is in the cards for me. Boo. Please let me know if any of you are picnicking this weekend, perhaps I can live vicariously through you!

STREET STYLED:: COLOR BLOCKING

I fell HARD for Jil Sander's long bright skirts and crisp white shirts and the subsequent editorials that followed (example 1 / example 2). However the peplum wasn't exactly wearable and the stiff fabric was a bit formal for my day-to-day - not to mention the price tag. So I was thrilled to see this lovely rendition! A look we could all work into our real life wardrobes. A look I love for its simplicity, and yet the candy colors clash so brilliantly don't you think?

Check out Street Styled No. 1 if you dig this post. xoxo

MAN DECOR

1. West Elm / 2. Target
 The most common decorating issue my girlfriends have is finding decor that their boyfriends can agree to. If I had a striped shirt for every time a girl asked me this I'd have a closet full of striped shirts... oh wait. Which brings me to my next point. I have a gray and white striped shower curtain. I've painted my walls gray and white stripes. And I've also fallen in love with a certain gray and white striped duvet cover but I'm pretty sure that would be crossing some sort of line, so now I'm passing this one on to you.

The stripes are wide (read: not feminine) and it is one of the two male-approved colors (navy blue and gray)  so your boyfriend will probably say "yes! I love this duvet cover I think we should definitely get it and that papier-mache tortoise shell you've been eyeing at West Elm."

No just kidding, he'll say "what's a duvet? .... That one's okay." Which is all a girl could hope for. So here are the deets - it's from West Elm. It's on sale. And yunno what else? I found it at Target for cheaper!

Now answer me this, are gray & white striped walls, a gray & white striped shower curtain, and gray & white striped duvet cover too much?

LOOK FOR LESS:: GIVENCHY SHARK TOOTH

both available at fashionology
 I'm a small necklace girl. I wear a couple of itsy bitsy pendants on teensy weensy chains every day - the smaller the better! But somehow I'm finding myself drawn to these giant jagged shark tooth necklaces by Givenchy. Not enough to sink my rent into one (though even if I was, these things are somehow sold out!) so these lookalikes from fashionology are looking very attractive to my pocketbook right now. The white shark tooth is a little bit the souvenir you'd beg your mom for at the natural science museum gift shop when you were 7 and insist that you'll wear it everyday. But both are sure to add a little edge (heh heh, get it?) to an outfit this summer. I'm picturing beachside drinks with a long white maxi dress and this around my neck.

Would you buy a shark tooth necklace for $950?
How bout for $42?

Happy Friday my lovelies! Hope you have some fun summer plans for the weekend. Speaking of summer, did you see my summer suit post on coco+kelley this week? I know I know, an all white suit is a bit of a fantasy (stains, undergarments, not slimming, oh my!). I recreated the look in my post with my current summer go-to sandals, a striped tank, and some coral lipstick!

And as a weekend treat? Eaton Trading Company has graciously offered 30% off to my readers! Just enter FUJI for 30% off your entire purchase.

SUMMER SERIES:: 3 STRAP FLATS

Friends, I gave you standing outfit photos. I gave you sitting outfit photos. And now, so as not to bore you (I am wearing the same shorts in all of them after all) I give you jumping outfit photos! I'm starting to think all outfit photos should be jumping, it shows the clothes in a new light, no? Also, it calls to mind jumping genius Natsumi with her levitation photos. Genius.

Now, on to the topic of shoes. (My favorite topic everrrrrrrrrr!). I tend to think of these as the quintessential man repellant shoe. I mean, there's nothing sexy about shoes that a 5 year old might wear.  (Same goes for these sunglasses). However, when my boyfriend set eyes on these he said "those are fun" ... and I said "really??? I thought you would HATE these". And he said well, they're fun. I would have liked him to elaborate and discuss, but he had nothing else to say on the matter. Fair enough.

If you've been reading this blog for a while you may recognize these shoes, I did a post about Alexa Chung's 3 strap flats aaages ago, and about how I really really wanted them. Actually it's quite impressive that I deliberated for a whole year before making this purchase, and I'm so glad I did!

DIY FLOWER CROWN {Lana Del Rey-inspired}

Last week I was asked to get creative for a headshot session with the CamilleStyles team. We were encouraged to dress up, bring props, and be creative with our styling... so. much. pressure. Props?? Yikes! I decided to try my hand at a Lana Del Rey-inspired flower crown, and yunno what? I'm WILD about the results! I mean I'm actually shocked by how good this turned out. I got all of the supplies at Hobby Lobby, and it took me about 30 minutes from beginning to end! So you can do it too. If I may say so myself, this thing is gorge. And it's even sturdy enough to withstand a little dancing ;)

Watch the video for supplies and to see this DIY step-by-step!

SUMMER SERIES:: DOUBLE DENIM

Take 2, of how I style denim shorts! Double denim. Whoah. I know. Now it took me a long time to finally get on board with this one, but once I did it felt so natural and not Euro-trashy like I assumed. I actually really love the look now, and it's super comfortable. I was inspired by the country feel of it, hence the brick wall photos. There was an awesome blue barn behind me but it was on private property so that was a no go. I paired them with my wedge sneakers a la Isabel Marant. These shoes have gotten so much wear I almost feel sorry for them. On my New York trip they were practically the only shoe I brought. Super risky! But they really did work in every occasion and held up to all that walking. So I can vouch for these!

SUMMER SERIES:: JEAN SHORTS

I recently put together the 'Lookbook' page on the blog and realized that I have only posted TWELVE outfits since my first outfit post a year ago. What a failure! A travesty! An average of only one outfit a month. That's a rubbish effort if you ask me. So in an effort to boost the number of outfits I share I decided to start a new series featuring the ultimate summer staple: the denim short. Classic. Effortless. Indispensable. Jean shorts have been around since the dawn of time it seems, or at least since I first saw the movie Now and Then with Christina Ricci in her cool tomboy plaid shirt, and Thora Birch with her jello bra - and decided I wanted to be them. Since then I've been through a plethora of shorts, from the itsy bitsy to the teensy weensy (hello high school), and now I think I've finally found a pair that's juuust right. Naturally I've been living in them - I think the secret is I sized UP two sizes, for that Alexander Wang slouch. I wore it here with my Taylor Tomasi-inspired blazer, also worn here.

PUMPED UP KICKS

I don't know about you but that mid-week holiday got me all disoriented, but here we are at Friday! Yay! I'm heading home to spend the weekend with my family, and of course I'm looking forward to my mom's home cooking. This post is actually relevant because I rarely find a reason to wear heels while I'm home, so these pumped up kicks are perfect!

This collection of street style looks is from my latest post for coco+kelley, hop on over if you'd like to see the outfit I put together! The pink sneakers are to die for....

xoxo Cristina

p.s. I have a fun summer series coming up next week, stay tuned!
